Itaewon Class Filming Locations — a Footbridge, a Plaza, and a Fortress in Suwon

Three Itaewon Class locations have records in this guide. Two are in Seoul, in Itaewon and on Namsan, and they connect to each other. The third is Suwon Hwaseong, which comes from a different source entirely.

The two in Seoul are really one shot. The hill you see from Noksapyeong overpass is the second location, so taking them in order means walking the composition the drama kept framing.

Two that connect, one that does not

The Seoul two — Noksapyeong overpass crosses the main Itaewon road in Yongsan, and Baekbeom Plaza sits on the Namsan you can see from its deck. Under 3 km separates them, so they can be walked.

The one in Suwon — Namporu on the Hwaseong wall is named by Suwon City's own drama-location course. It is absent from the Korea Tourism Organization's Itaewon Class list, and at 30 km from Seoul it does not fit the same half-day.

The businesses used in filming are not on this list

The Korea Tourism Organization also documents the bar and the guesthouse used in filming, but this list covers only places the guide holds a record for. Commercial premises change names and close, so if you are going to make one a destination, confirm it is still trading first. If it is, go as a customer.

Take the footbridge first, then climb

What you are looking at from Noksapyeong overpass is Namsan, and Namsan is the second location. Seeing the bridge and then going up follows the drama's own composition on foot. Add the Itaewon backstreets and it fills a half-day.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see all three in one day?

The two in Seoul take about half a day. Noksapyeong overpass and Baekbeom Plaza are under 3 km apart and can be walked, or done faster by bus. Suwon Hwaseong is 30 km from Seoul and does not fit the same half-day — it works better attached to a day you were spending at the fortress anyway.

Can I visit the Danbam bar from the drama?

It is not on this list. The Korea Tourism Organization does document the businesses used in filming, but this list covers only places the guide holds a record for. Businesses change hands and change names easily, so if you make one your destination, check first that it is still trading — and if it is, go as a customer.

Why is Suwon Hwaseong on the list?

Because Suwon City names Namporu as a location for this drama on its own drama-location course. Suwon Hwaseong does not appear on the Korea Tourism Organization's Itaewon Class page. It is more accurate to read it knowing the source is a different one.

Should I go to the overpass at night?

The drama's version of it is closer to night. The shot that belongs to this spot is the view from the deck towards N Seoul Tower, and that reads closest once the lights are on. It is a working footbridge, though, so do not stand blocking it for long.

Can I see Itaewon itself at the same time?

Yes. The overpass is on the main Itaewon road and runs straight into the backstreets — Seoul presents the two together. Rather than seeing the location and leaving, it makes more sense to plan a half-day that walks Itaewon and Namsan as one.
