Myeongdong Underground Shopping Center
An underground arcade of 61 shops linking the Lotte Department Store main branch to Myeongdong's main street. The passage stays open around the clock even when the shops do not. Myeongdong has a second arcade with a near-identical name: the one attached to Myeongdong Station is the Myeongdong Station Underground Shopping Center, a separate 70-shop arcade under Toegye-ro.
Namdaemun Market
It is a district of independently operated shops rather than one venue, so visit by product category and verify specialist-market hours.
Myeongdong Kyoja
A kalguksu house open since 1966. The menu runs to four dishes and it takes no reservations. The main branch moved to Toegye-ro in 2026 and now stands in front of exit 8 of Myeongdong Station.

What are the four buildings?
The Estate, the 2005 annexe holding the food market, fashion floors, duty free and restaurants; The Reserve, the 1930 building where Shinsegae began, now luxury boutiques; The Heritage, the 1935 former Korea First Bank head office; and Mesa, holding kids and the Shinsegae Academy. The names were introduced in March and April 2025.
Is The Heritage the old Mitsukoshi building?
No. The 1930 Mitsukoshi Gyeongseong building is the one now called The Reserve. The Heritage is the former Korea First Bank head office next door, completed in 1935 and designated a Seoul Tangible Cultural Heritage in 1989.
Is The Heritage Museum free?
The operator states that its digitised artefacts and records of early Korean retail are freely viewable by every visitor. It is on the fourth floor of The Heritage, the part of the building the operator calls architecturally the most valuable.
Where is the duty-free shop?
Floors 8 to 11 of The Estate — luxury boutiques on 8F, watches and jewellery on 9F, cosmetics and perfume on 10F, and fashion accessories, food, liquor, tobacco, electronics and character goods on 11F. The duty-free customer centre is on 12F.
How much is parking?
2,000 won per 10 minutes, with one hour free on a same-day receipt over 50,000 won, two hours over 100,000 and three hours over 150,000. Receipts cannot be combined. At weekends and on holidays the Woori Bank head office and State Tower car parks give three hours free after a receipt check, then 1,000 won per 10 minutes.
