Jamsil Hangang Park

잠실한강공원

A 4.8 km stretch of the south bank between Jamsil Railway Bridge and Yeongdong Bridge. At the weir under the south end of Jamsil Bridge runs Jamsil Eodo, a fish ladder with a 228 m observation deck and a viewing window, so you can watch fish work their way up past the barrage. Accessibility and facilities

Jamsil Eodo, under the south end of Jamsil Bridge, is 4 m wide and 228 m long, with 1,480 m² of observation deck and a viewing window. The nature-study garden in front of the information centre holds 45 species of tree — 2,030 of them — 80 species of perennial, and a shaded pavilion.

The ageing Jamsil pool has been rebuilt as a naturalistic water-play area usable year round, with a main pool, a leisure pool and a toddler pool alongside a sandpit, lawn shelters and a woodland walk. Its shallow stream feature runs Tuesday to Thursday, 12:00–18:00, from April to October, and you can paddle your feet in it.

The operator points out that the Jamsil sports complex, Lotte World and Olympic Park all adjoin this district, which makes it easy to combine sports and cultural facilities in one outing. Jamsil pier has a convenience store and a floating restaurant, with the bicycle-hire point in front of it. From exits 5 and 6 at Jamsil station you come in through the Jamsil underpass.

The operator lists the park's amenities as four shops, four car parks, one playground, 11 toilets and drinking fountains.

Frequently asked questions

When does the water-play area open, and is there a charge?

June to August, and in those months you take a ticket at the gate. The operator states that tickets are issued but publishes no price. Outside the season the area stays open as ordinary parkland, and the shallow stream feature keeps its own hours — Tuesday to Thursday, 12:00–18:00, April to October.

Can I hire a bicycle?

The hire point in this district keeps 100 bicycles. It is one of the smaller ones, so it shuts for the winter from November to February and runs 11:00–20:00 from March to October. A standard single bike is 3,300 won an hour.

Is fishing allowed?

Outside the prohibited zones, yes — but with limits. The operator bans groundbait and fishmeal, four or more rods at once, and snagging, and says that fishing in a prohibited zone or breaking those limits carries a fine.

  • Enjoying the Han River Parks

"The Han River park" is eleven parks, not one. Which district you pick decides what you can actually do that day, and that is where most trips go wrong.
