Gwangjang, Noryangjin, Lotte World, Cheongwadae: What to Check First

Anyone going to Gwangjang for bindaetteok is going not to the market but to the food alley inside it. The two do not open and close together.

Five hours apart. And Sunday matters more: go to Gwangjang on a Sunday and the market is shut while the food alley is open. Visit Seoul writes the days of operation as one line — Mon–Sat, food alley year round.

So "how late is Gwangjang Market open?" has two correct answers, and the alley's is almost always the one people want. If you are going to eat, the day does not matter; if you are going for fabric or second-hand clothes, avoid Sunday.

Noryangjin Fisheries Market is a seafood market where wholesale and retail trade side by side. Wholesale and retail run 00:00–24:00, so the market effectively never shuts, and the auction is held inside the market building in the middle of the night. The exit given for it is Noryangjin Station (Lines 1 and 9), exit 9.

The auction has no opening and closing hours to look up. An auction has a time it begins; it is not defined by a time it ends. What you need instead is the starting hour and the day of the week.

The auction, though, does not happen on Sundays. Inside a building open around the clock, one day a week there is no auction. The market itself also closes on 1 January, Seollal and Chuseok.

The same page gives two different starting times. The hours field reads "Auction, Daily 00:00", while the body of that same page says daily auctions "take place from 1 am to 4 am". Midnight or one in the morning, decided differently within one document.

For a plan built around going out in the middle of the night, that hour is not small. Only the operator can say which figure is current, so confirm it before you set out. There are three things to check: that the day is not a Sunday or one of the market's holidays, what time the auction starts, and how you will get there and back at that hour.

The 3,000-won gap is one museum. For teenagers it is 56,000 against 54,000, so 2,000; for children 48,000 against 47,000, so 1,000; and for babies both are 16,000, so there is no gap at all — an infant gets the museum at no extra cost.

Hours are 10:00–21:00 Sunday to Thursday and 10:00–22:00 on Friday and Saturday, with last admission an hour before closing — carried alongside the caveat that hours may vary from day to day.

Cheongwadae opened to the public in 2022. On 10 June 2025, Segye Ilbo quoted the Cheongwadae Foundation as saying tours would be suspended from 1 August that year for security, safety and facilities checks ahead of the presidential office's return.

On 10 September 2025, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it was reviewing the direction of any resumption of tours after the presidential office's return, along with the future of the Cheongwadae Foundation. That explanatory release does not give the suspension date or its reason.

The president returned to work at Cheongwadae on 29 December 2025. Korea Policy Briefing reported that the presidential office's official name also changed to Cheong Wa Dae that day. This announced the return to work, not the reopening of public tours.

As of Edaily's report dated 17 September 2026, public tours had not resumed. Citing a reply the Presidential Secretariat had submitted to a lawmaker's office, the report said reopening would be pursued during 2027 after facilities work. The precise timing, visitor access and operating arrangements had not been settled. That report alone does not establish whether a visit is possible on your travel date.

The official website uses the name 대한민국 청와대, or Cheong Wa Dae of the Republic of Korea. Before planning a visit, check dated official visitor announcements from Cheong Wa Dae or the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Gyeongbokgung, Bukchon Hanok Village and Jongmyo are nearby alternatives within walking distance of one another, with published visitor information. Access within the grounds has not been confirmed, so follow on-site guidance in the surrounding area.
