Dream Forest

북서울꿈의숲

A green park opened in 2009 on the 660,000-square-metre site of the former Dreamland amusement park. Two wooded hills enclose it, and the observatory and arts centre by the west gate carry performances and exhibitions.

Uireung Royal Tomb

The former KCIA auditorium still stands inside the tomb walls. The July 4th North-South Joint Statement was announced in that building, so a Joseon royal tomb and twentieth-century political history share one precinct.

Jeongneung Royal Tomb

It opens at 06:00 under the early-admission rule, so it doubles as a morning walking route. It is the tomb of Queen Sindeok, King Taejo’s second queen, and its stone lantern is the oldest stone object at any Joseon royal tomb.

Gyeongdong Market

It closes at 18:00 and most stores are shut on Sundays, so it suits a morning visit rather than an evening one. People come here for ginseng, medicinal herbs and ingredients more than for food.
