History

The Seoul Tourism Organization says the restaurant was named after Samcheonpo, the hometown of the founder's spouse. The spouse, who ran the kitchen, spent three years learning to cook at pork rib, seolleongtang and ox-knee soup restaurants before the business opened; it began as a seafood stew restaurant, switched to pork belly and later specialised in grilling on a stone slab. The founder's son also takes part in running the business.

Jeongneung Royal Tomb

It opens at 06:00 under the early-admission rule, so it doubles as a morning walking route. It is the tomb of Queen Sindeok, King Taejo’s second queen, and its stone lantern is the oldest stone object at any Joseon royal tomb.
