KT&G Sangsangmadang Hongdae
KT&G 상상마당 홍대
One address, seven floors, and not one standing opening time published for any of them. What this building says about its own hours is whatever show happens to be on that floor this month.

- Hours notes
- No page on the venue's own site publishes standing opening hours for any floor. Going by the shows now on: the Hongdae Gallery on 5-4F runs 11:00-19:00 with last entry at 18:30 and closes Mondays, until 18 August 2026; the Design Square pop-up on 1F runs 11:00-21:00, until 17 August 2026; and the pop-up on 2F publishes no hours at all for the same weeks. Open the listing for the show you are going to see. Exhibitions in both spaces are free. The cinema and live hall are ticketed and their prices appear only inside the booking flow. There is no car park at all: the operator states plainly that Sangsangmadang has no parking of its own and asks visitors to use public transport. Enquiries 02-330-6200; the gallery has its own line on 02-330-6229.

Nearby
MUSINSA GARAGE
A small live room on Jandari-ro in Hongdae, shared between indie bands and rookie-idol showcases. It is the size of room you drop into in the evening after a day spent walking Hongdae.

Hongdae Walking Street
A registered shopping street running along Eoulmadang-ro, with 192 units along it. Several stretches around Hongdae are registered as shopping streets; this is the largest of them.
AK Plaza Hongdae
A shopping mall standing over Hongik University Station. It never takes a closing day, and on weekends and public holidays it opens half an hour earlier than on weekdays.

Gyeongui Line Forest Park
It has no gate, no fee and no closing time, but it also has no car park anywhere along its 6.3 km — the operator says so outright and tells you to come by train. Which is fitting for a park that used to be one.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an admission charge at Sangsangmadang Hongdae?
Exhibitions are free — both Design Square on 1-2F and the Hongdae Gallery on 4-5F. The cinema on B4 and the live hall on B2 are ticketed, but the prices are not published on the venue's pages and only appear inside the booking flow.
What sort of exhibitions does it show?
The operator describes the Hongdae Gallery as a space for contemporary and outsider art that exists to find and support emerging artists. It is a support programme rather than a rentable hall, which gives the shows a different character from a commercial gallery.
What does the cinema screen?
It is an arthouse cinema showing independent and art films alongside general releases, with GV talk screenings scheduled often. There are 76 seats including one wheelchair space. You cannot enter more than 15 minutes after the start, and only drinks may be brought into the auditorium.
How long does a visit take?
Two hours covers both exhibitions and Design Square comfortably. If you want to see a film, fix the screening time first and fit the rest around it.
