Samcheongdong Sujebi

삼청동수제비

A Samcheong-dong sujebi house open since 1982, served alongside its potato pancake.

Language

The shopfront of Samcheongdong Sujebi: raised white lettering reading 삼청동 수제비 across a timber-clad fascia, beside a blue square sign drawn with a tiled roof and lettered Samcheong Sujaebi above SINCE 1982. Two telephone numbers run along the right of the fascia, and the same name is printed at the right end of the navy awning below. On the red brick wall are a framed price list and a green-bordered 모범음식점 Good Restaurant plaque; red bands on the aluminium-framed sliding glass doors read 수제비전문 and 삼청동수제비. A handwritten opening-hours notice is taped beside the door, and a folding chair with a red seat stands on the pavement to the right.

삼청동수제비
Address
101-1 Samcheong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Opening hours
11:00–20:00
Hours notes
These hours are the Korea Tourism Organization's. The restaurant's own site publishes its name, address and telephone number as text and stops there — no hours, no closing days. That is also why no closing days are recorded: the tourism organization says it never closes, and there is nothing here to check that against.

Stories about this place

  • Six Seoul houses that make the noodle by hand — kalguksu, guksi, sujebi

Only houses that cut or tear wheat dough by hand and drop it straight into the broth. All six sell a bowl in the ten-thousand-won range, none of them is a spicy dish, and two are walking distance from Gyeongbokgung and Bukchon. The record names the broth at four of the six and not at the other two, and both the difference and the gap are written down here.
