Hallasan National Park
한라산국립공원
Choose the trail before planning transport: only Seongpanak (9.6 km) and Gwaneumsa (8.7 km) reach the summit, both need an advance reservation, and both turn walkers back at a mid-mountain control point if they arrive after the cut-off. Every other trail is a half-day walk with no summit at the end of it.

- Hours notes
- The deadline is the entry cut-off for the two summit routes and it differs by trail — the routes that do not reach the top are mostly later, and only Donnaeko is earlier. The operator carries this control table on the same page in two versions that disagree. The values here are the three-season one (winter Jan-Feb and Nov-Dec, spring/autumn Mar-Apr and Sep-Oct, summer May-Aug); the two-season table beside it splits the year into Oct-Mar and Apr-Sep and puts the summit cut-off at 11:30 and 12:30. Both tables carry the same caption naming three seasons, so the two-season one contradicts its own caption. Treat the cut-off as unsettled and check on the day. Walking is day-only, so the descent from the east summit must begin by 13:30, 14:00 or 14:30 on the three-season table. Entry is suspended in whole or in part under a heavy-rain, typhoon or heavy-snow advisory or warning; check the park notice on the day.

Gwaneumsa Temple
A temple at 650 metres on Hallasan's northern slope. The long narrow path to its entrance is the most photographed thing about it.
Halla Arboretum
A provincial arboretum in Yeon-dong on the Jeju City side of the island, at the foot of Gwangi Oreum beside Route 1100, planted with some 1,100 species of Jeju natives and subtropical plants. Its outdoor grounds and paths stay open all year. A 1.7 km circuit climbs most of the way up an oreum, which makes this one of the few places a traveller staying in Jeju City without a car can see volcanic ground and island vegetation inside an hour.

Jeongbang Waterfall
Buy a ticket at the entrance and walk down about five minutes of pine-lined steps — there is no way to see the fall from the top. Sonammeori, on the cliff above it, is a Jeju April 3 site where detainees were summarily executed; the setting is a beauty spot and a killing ground at once.

Oedolgae Sea Stack
A rock pillar about twenty metres high standing alone off the Seogwipo shore, left behind when the softer rock around it wore away; pines grow on top of it. Jeju Olle Trail Course 7 begins here and continues along the coast, so it works naturally as the first or last stop of a walking day rather than as somewhere to drive to and leave. Two stories attach to it: one in which General Choe Yeong of late Goryeo dressed the rock as a commander to frighten off an enemy, and one about an old woman who turned to stone waiting for her husband to come back from the sea.
Frequently asked questions
Which trail is easier?
Seongpanak. It is longer at 9.6 km against Gwaneumsa's 8.7 km, but the gradient is gentler and it takes about 4 hours 30 minutes one way against 5. Gwaneumsa has the better scenery and a much larger height gain.
Can I climb Gwaneumsa to the summit right now?
Not between 1 August and 30 September 2026. The Samgakbong-to-summit section is closed for rockfall-barrier repairs and deck replacement, leaving Seongpanak as the only route to the top. The lower trail to Samgakbong stays open.
What happens if I book and do not go?
Cancel before your booked window ends and nothing happens. Fail to cancel and you cannot reserve for three months; a second no-show costs you a year.
Is there a trail that does not need a reservation?
Eorimok, Yeongsil, Donnaeko and Eoseungsaengak all run without the summit reservation, and Eorimok and Yeongsil have far later cut-offs. None of them reaches Baengnokdam; Eorimok and Yeongsil end at Witseoreum.

- Eight Places to Visit in Jeju, Compared: What to Check Before the Price
Eight places in Jeju compared on admission and on the condition that matters more than the price. Admission runs from 1,000 won at Udo to 18,000 at ARTE MUSEUM, but it is the monthly closing date, the booking window, the ferry and the vehicle ban that shape an itinerary.
