Hallasan National Park
Choose the trail before planning transport: only Seongpanak (9.6 km) and Gwaneumsa (8.7 km) reach the summit, both need an advance reservation, and both turn walkers back at a mid-mountain control point if they arrive after the cut-off. Every other trail is a half-day walk with no summit at the end of it.
Halla Arboretum
A provincial arboretum in Yeon-dong on the Jeju City side of the island, at the foot of Gwangi Oreum beside Route 1100, planted with some 1,100 species of Jeju natives and subtropical plants. Its outdoor grounds and paths stay open all year. A 1.7 km circuit climbs most of the way up an oreum, which makes this one of the few places a traveller staying in Jeju City without a car can see volcanic ground and island vegetation inside an hour.

A momguk house in Ildo 2-dong near Jeju Airport, serving pork broth thickened with gulfweed alongside dombe-gogi, sliced black pork. It stays open into the small hours.
