Dongseong-ro

동성로

Dongseong-ro is a roughly 900-metre street in central Daegu running between Daegu Station Intersection and the Dongseong-ro Tourist Information Center. Shops and restaurants keep their own hours, and the street has no single set of opening hours.

Seomun Market

A large traditional market in central Daegu. It grew as a textile market, and hanbok and fabric shops are still at its centre. The day market and the night market keep different days: the night market opens only Friday to Sunday.

Kim Gwangseok-gil Street

A wall-painted lane of a few hundred metres beside Bancheon Market, given over to murals of the singer Kim Kwang-seok, who came from Daegu, and to his songs. There is no gate and no ticket, so you can walk it at any hour — but you come here to look at paintings, so come in daylight.

Apsan Cable Car

The cable car up Apsan, covering 847.3 metres from the Keungol valley to the summit ridge in five minutes. It climbs from 180 to 510 metres above sea level, with two 48-seat cars running every five to fifteen minutes. It replaces an hour's walk, which is why most people looking down over Daegu take it. On Fridays, weekends and public holidays it runs for two hours after sunset, which is what opens the city up after dark.
