Sungsimdang Main Store
성심당 본점
A bakery that began in 1956 as a steamed-bun stall in front of Daejeon Station and has been an Eunhaeng-dong fixture since. Its listed signatures are the fried soboro bun and the pantalong leek bread. It opens 08:00–22:00 every day of the year, but the popular items sell as they come out of the oven, so come early if there is one you want.

Yuseong Hot Springs
The hot-spring quarter around Bongmyeong-dong in Daejeon's Yuseong district: hotels and bathhouses drawing on alkaline spring water of 27–56°C, plus a free public foot spa in the park that is separate from all of them. The quarter is not one facility, so prices and closing days belong to the individual businesses.
Frequently asked questions
Can I just buy it at another branch?
Sungsimdang only opens branches inside Daejeon — the main store plus the station, DCC and department-store shops, and nothing outside the city. The Daejeon Station branch is the easy one to fit around a train, but it carries a smaller range than the main store.
Will I have to queue?
At weekends and on public holidays, yes. The queue to get in and the queue to pay sometimes move separately, so check which one you are joining before you commit to it.
Will the bread survive a day of travelling?
The fried items and anything with cream are made to be eaten the same day. If you are carrying a box back to Seoul, it is worth splitting the order into what you will eat today and what will keep.
Stories about this place
- Who Sets the Opening Hours Here
Incheon Chinatown's listing has no opening-hours field at all. Gangneung Coffee Street's says 'varies by shop'. Sokcho and Seomun markets print times and then print the same caveat beside them. Mudeungsan is open around the clock but the weather closes it, and Sungsimdang never shuts but sells out. Ten places, ten different answers to one question.
