Hongdae and neighboring Yeonnam-dong are young, energetic neighborhoods packed with individual cafes. It's a great area for wandering and ducking into whatever catches your eye.

Streets worth walking

Yeontral Park — a walking path built over an old rail line, lined with cafes on both sides.
Hongdae's back alleys — small roasteries and dessert cafes tucked out of sight.

Weekday afternoons are relaxed; weekends and evenings get busy. Mornings are your best bet for a quieter visit.

Beyond the cafes

Small shops and galleries are tucked between the cafes, so there's plenty to browse. By evening the area flows naturally into casual dinner spots and nightlife.

Hongik University Station (Line 2, AREX, and the Gyeongui-Jungang Line) is right there, making the area easy to reach.
